your product or service plays in the life of your customer, the better your chances for your small business to be able to use story as a weapon in your marketing arsenal.

Let?s return to a hypothetical small business mentioned in another article–Terry?s ATV Store. Terry sells All Terrain Vehicles, but he is really in the fun business. Even the farmers and ranchers who use his product in their everyday work lives just love the rush they get from driving their quads.

Because so many people are unable

September 3rd, 2010 No comments

Because so many people are unable or unwilling to move around the country accepting short term jobs, the salaries tend to be excellent. Most travel nursing companies offer salaries at least 15% higher than salaries offered by traditional employers. Travel nursing employees are also usually guaranteed holiday pay, a certain amount of overtime, and bonuses based on the number of assignments accepted and the number of nurses referred for employment.

Another unique feature about travel nursing is that private housing is generally provided free of charge to traveling nurses. This allows anyone involved in traveling nursing to save a good percentage of their salary.

Travel nursing agencies also, of course, pay for the cost of travel to reach the job site. Travel nursing jobs are available around the continental United States and in Alaska and Hawaii as well. Although the placements generally require some overtime, traveling nurses still have plenty of time available to explore their surroundings. Most professions do not allow people the time or the money to travel so broadly or so frequently.

Finally, travel nursing allows the nurse to accumulate many different experiences at different types of facilities.

I know my mother is not safe

September 3rd, 2010 No comments

I know my mother is not safe when in that day-dreaming mode of hers, so history has told me so. She was like a loaded cross-bow, with a hair-trigger. She told me: ?He was a drunkard, and it was too late for him to stop what he had set his mind to do; a drunkard reaches a point where it is too late for him to stop, he may believe he will, but experience has taught me he will not (they both had reached this stage and conclusion), and that is what I figured trigger me, and I did what you said I?d had done.?

Advance: it was a time before Beowulf was written but after Sherborn Abbey in Dorset Roman book of Catholic prayer was written. With a green and black waxed seal attached to a vellum strip at the bottom a charter was written (A.D. 1215)?King John enthroned now holding his scepter.

It was written this year of 1215 with gall-based ink. It was called the Magna Charta, perhaps the first of its kind, a ?Charter of Liberties,? many copies were made, and one sent to Glastonbury, badly damaged by fire, yet it was displayed in the village nonetheless, to the populace; amongst them, Angelina and her husband, known a decade before as the Green Knight.

The eloquence of those historic sentences, the nobility and idealism, they expressed warmed the hearts of Glastonbury, especially Angelina?s, saying:

?No free man shall be taken or imprisoned or deprived or outlawed or exiled or in any way ruined??

Need I say more?

it was revered as the founding stone of modern freedom, and in time the world over would recognize this; and to Angelina now with two sons and two daughters, regarded this as a romantic and formative piece of British legislation.

This was also the time when the Crusades were a part of the fabric of the day, and much talk of it in the village of Glastonbury; for that matter, all of Europe.

We build relationships with people

September 3rd, 2010 No comments

We build relationships with people that we like. And usually, we have confidence in and trust the people that we like.

If you?re running a national sales meeting and you have a well-known, well-liked sports figure give a presentation talk about motivation ? people listen.

Likeabililty is difficult for many sales reps, becaue it seems to be a matter of personality and chance rather than of behavioir and intention. However, likeability is no mystery. To use the principle, find similarities between yourself and your employee, trainee or customer and raise them to the surface. Your background, your hobbies, your likes/dislikes, etc., The principle of likeability is complimentary to the principle of reciprocation. If you can try and find something about the person you?re trying to influence that you truly like and respect, then that person will naturally like and respect you. While this may seem manipulative, it?s not ? because it?s in how they are treated that will create the reciprocal action.

Now let?s tie all these together….

A stupid idea

Don’t put Michael Toter behind bars

One can barely imagine the lifelong pain the parents, friends and relatives of Sara Michelle Losasso face. The 14-year-old girl died Jan. 19, 2005, after a car crash on Monument Hill. Sara’s death was a huge loss to Lewis-Palmer High School and the entire Monument community. Sara was a popular student who reached out to less popular kids and those who had just moved to town. She had a passion for life, and her parents were looking forward to sharing her 15th birthday, her first prom, a marriage and children someday.

“I feel cheated,” said Sara’s grieving mother, Cindy Losasso, days after her death.

She was cheated for sure. She was cheated by an accident, not a crime. She can’t be repaid. This can’t be fixed.

When school let out the day of her death, Sara accepted a ride from Michael Toter, a friend who was 16. Michael, a new driver, drove north on a road just east of Interstate 25 and lost control of his 2000 Dodge Neon while rounding a curve

How Moms Can Protect Their Income During and After Delivery

Maternity Disability – How Moms Can Protect Their Income During and After Delivery by John Massa
in Finance (submitted 2008-10-05)

Extended absences from work due to disability during and after maternity have become an ever-increasing occurrence. According to a 2002 study, 29% of short term disabilities (180 days or less) and 12% of long-term disabilities are due to pregnancy. Pregnancy disability can turn a wonderful, life-changing experience into a serious financial challenge when Mom is out of work for months before and/or after the maternity period. Disability Income insurance can provide needed cash in the absence or a regular work scheduled because of a maternity disability.

Many corporations offer paid leave benefits to employees that provide full pay for up to 3 months after delivery. Complications that cause the employee to be out of work before delivery or beyond the maternity leave period after delivery can cause the household to lose cash flow for months or longer.

Maternity disability can be planned for with individual short term disability insurance that can commonly provide up to 70% of regular income while Mom is not able to work due to illness or injury for 3-6 months. Long-term disability insurance kicks in after the short-term benefits expire and can provide income protection for up to five years or longer. In fact, long term disability insurance policies commonly pay benefits until age 65 to ensure income in the event of a permanent disability such as if a dentist was to lose the use of a hand or eye.

Future Moms often rely on employee-sponsored group disability insurance. Group disability can provide benefits up to 60% of regular income. However, benefits from group policies are taxed as regular income, reducing actual benefits to roughly 42% income. Employer policies also commonly come with a bevy of exceptions and limitations that can reduce or eliminate benefits altogether.

Group disability insurance is a great start toward income protection but it’s not the complete answer. A very affordable supplemental disability insurance policy can very affordably plug the holes in group coverage and provide a formidable shield against income loss due to a maternity disability. Income protection can be extended to 100% or regular income with supplemental coverage. Additionally, benefits paid via a supplemental policy are not taxed as income.

Women with a family history of challenges during maternity may also consider catastrophic disability insurance. CDI covers costs associated with extended at-home or facility care. For instance, if Mom’s doctor orders her to bed for months before or after delivery, CDI can cover the expense of a day or live-in nurse to assist with the needs of day-to-day living. Such care is generally very expensive and is not covered by any other type of insurance

This is how they are related

September 2nd, 2010 No comments

This is how they are related to the broadstruck coins but the difference remains in how they are struck and the end result of it all.

With a broadstruck coin you get the appearance of off center, with a thinning of the planchet at the point of the strike with the whole image shifted to one side or another. Now, with partial collars you get a completely different result. When the coin fails to fall into the collar with this occurrence you get an edge that is similar in design to the wheels on a train car.

The partial collars are normally referred to as railroad rims and it is easy to see why. This makes them in the same region of the error coin world as the broadstruck error coins but completely different in a way.

One matter is the fact that broadstruck coins are more valuable overall then the partial collars. This speaks to the dramatic difference in the two and the appearance of the overall error in question.

We don’t hear

September 2nd, 2010 No comments

We don’t hear of many perjury cases nowadays and yet there have to be lies told in every case that comes to court!

The word attorney, I feel, is a general term, depending on what part of the world you live in. I suppose, and as this is only my opinion, an attorney may be a solicitor, lawyer or barrister, depending on which part of the world you live and how you view the legal profession.

I find, as a lay person, the American legal system quite interesting. We hear expressions like District Attorney, State Attorney and other titles. I am guessing that these apply to various levels of legal practice, reliant on how people expand their knowledge and climb up the legal ladder.

Sighting in the dark

Sighting in the dark

Law Enforcement Technology, May 2008 by Burgreen, Todd

Interest in night vision gear and what it offers to law enforcement and civilian users has increased. The first Gulf War made most realize that night vision has revolutionized the modern battlefield and is a crucial advantage exploited by U.S. armed forces. As often happens with technology, this advantage is now becoming available to the law enforcement and civilian markets.

San Francisco, California-based American Technologies Network Corp. (ATN) manufactures advanced night vision equipment in many versions or types of night vision devices across the different technological designations (Generation 1, 2, 3 and 4). Night vision weapon sights, goggles, binoculars, monoculars and day/night systems are all available from ATN. Thermal imaging equipment is also offered.

The PS22-3a Night vision optic mount is a top- of-the-line Generation 3 device using handpicked image intensification tubes for the highest performance. Generation 3 devices are considered so technologically advanced that exporting such devices from the United States without a valid export permit issued by the U.S. State Department is strictly prohibited. The PS22-3a meets or exceeds military specifications with a resolution of 64 Ip/mm to 72 Ip/mm and signal to noise ratio (SNR) minimum of 20.

Resolution is defined as the ability of a night vision system to distinguish between objects close together. Image intensifier resolution is measured in line pairs per millimeter (1p/mm). SNR is a measure of the light signal reaching the eye divided by the perceived noise as seen by the eye. A tube’s SNR determines the low-light resolution of the image tube. A high SNR translates into the tube’s better ability to resolve objects with good contrast under low-light conditions. Many experts in the field feel the SNR is the best indicator of an image intensifier’s performance because SNR is directly related to the photocathode’s sensitivity and accounts for phosphor efficiency and micro-channel plate (MCP) operating voltage.

Day to night

The PS22-3a is designed to mount in front of a day optic scope. The concept is based on wanting to give users the convenience of using their day optic at night without having to switch out aiming devices or having to dedicate a weapon solely for use at night. Any weapon can be adapted for night use as long as the PS22-3a can be placed in front of a suitable day optic device. The available choices for the day optic that are compatible to use with the PS22-3a are wide ranging. One important advantage of the PS22-3a concept is not requiring the optic to be sighted in every time it is employed, since the day optic never moves. The PS22-3a is attached or detached with no impact on the day optic’s point of aim, and parallax is not an issue. Another benefit of the PS22-3a is that a scope’s reticle does not need to be illuminated or IR-compatible for it to be visible when using the PS22-3a. This differs from night vision products that mount to the rear of the scope.

Previous attempts to adapt a day optic for night use involved devices mounted behind the optic. This caused obvious eye relief issues unless the day optic was shifted forward, allowing for the night vision device and creating the need for the weapon system to be sighted in again or dedicated to night use negating the convenience and familiarity of using one weapon system across multiple scenarios
